Richard Begay (1943- 2013) was a distinguished Navajo silversmith from Pinon, Arizona, celebrated for his traditional and contemporary jewelry designs. He began his silversmithing career in 1974, creating pieces that often featured intricate inlay work with high-quality gemstones such as turquoise and coral. His hallmark, RB is a recognized signature in the Native American jewelry community.
Throughout his career, Richard collaborated with his wife, Rita Begay, producing pieces that combined traditional Navajo designs with innovative techniques. Their work has been showcased in various collections and museums, including the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., and the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. Richard’s legacy continues through his son, Philbert Begay, who learned the art of silversmithing from his father and carries on the family tradition.

Most garments I sell are vintage. Defects are always mentioned but keep in mind I sell garments that are often 30 years old, some are 40 or 50 years old even. Signs of wear can be expected of vintage. It’s part of the charm. Make sure you checked all pictures and descriptions before you purchase.
