This is maybe the oldest and most special pieces I’ve come across. This colorful pair of pants is a work of art. And it littery was in my art piece in my workroom wall. It could be just that, an art piece on the wall, on a mannequin, even framed or you could choose to wear it. Keep in mind as this is a very old piece it shows visible signs of wear. Personally I love that about a very old piece but you could choose to get it fully restored. It has some repairs already as shown in the pictures.
This is what I found out about the origin:
Mayan Weaving & Embroidery: Many indigenous Mayan textiles, especially from Chichicastenango, Nebaj, or Santiago Atitlán, feature these raised embroidery techniques and complex geometric shape.
Huipil Influence: The zigzag and checkerboard patterns are commonly found in traditional Guatemalan huipils (handwoven blouses worn by Mayan women). The raised couching embroidery around the zigzag sections is a signature detail.
Patchwork & Repurposing: In Guatemala, it’s common to repurpose older, worn-out textiles into new garments like pants, jackets, or bags. My estimate is this piece is made in the 60s and used fabric from the early 20st century.

Most garments I sell are vintage. Defects are always mentioned but keep in mind I sell garments that are often 30 years old, some are 40 or 50 years old even. Signs of wear can be expected of vintage. It’s part of the charm. Make sure you checked all pictures and descriptions before you purchase.
